August Wrap Up

These are all the glorious books I read in the month of August, I got a lot of reading done and I liked almost all of the books so I'm quite happy.

1. The Merciless - Danielle Vega

This book caught my attention because its HOT PINK, I mean come on. I don't even like pink but this is cool. The story follows a teenager named Sofia who is the new girl in town. She becomes friends with the "popular" girls but they turn out to be very twisted and unsettling. (They try to perform an exorcism on a girl they believe is possessed). While this book was fun and interesting to read I didn't think the story really went anywhere. There was a boy interest in the beginning but he really didn't have much of a part which was disappointing. It didn't scare me but it was odd..I just don't know how I feel about this one! 3/5 stars

2. Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs

If you guys have been watching my videos you will know this has become one of my favorite books of the year as well as a new favorite author, the talented Ransom Riggs. This is about a boy named Jacob who grew up with his grandfather telling him stories of a mysterious house where peculiar children live. An event happens that prompts Jacob to find out if his grandpa's stories weren't just "fairytales", from there we follow Jacob on an amazing adventure. 5/5 stars

3. Peculiar Children Graphic Novel - Artwork by Cassandra Jean

Also picked up the Graphic Novel of Miss P's Home For Peculiar Children because I just couldn't get enough. The art in this was really beautifully done and it brought the story to life for me, I loved it! 5/5 stars

4. We Were Liars - E. Lockhart

Everyone kept talking about this freaking book!! So I decided to pick it up and was sadly disappointed. Throughout the whole book I was struggling to not punch the main character in the face.. I just didn't understand why she was talking the way she was and anything that she did honestly didn't make sense. UNTIL THE END and then I'm like ok I'm mind blown. I really did enjoy the end but up until that point I hated it. Im re-reading this in September so my thoughts might change now that I know what happens at the end! 3/5 stars

5. The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien

Can't believe this was my first time reading The Hobbit but I absolutely loved it. Character development was great, the story was filled with action and morals and ugh it was just awesome. Bilbo Baggins is my fave underdog! 5/5 stars

6. Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen

I read this for the "Jane Austen Book Club" Book Club that was created by Zoe from readbyzoe on youtube. (Theres a goodreads group! check it out). We read one Jane Austen book a month and this was the first pick! It took me a long long time to finish this because I had to get used to the language but it was an amazing book and I highly recommend it, just be patient with it. 5/5 stars

7. Landline - Rainbow Rowell

Awesome adult contemporary, Rainbow Rowel never ceases to amaze me! This is a book about a women named George who is married to her husband Neal but their relationship is sort of shaky at the moment. He takes their kids to visit his mom during the Christmas holidays while Georgie stays at home and works on a business opportunity. While at the house she grew up in, visiting her mother and sister, Georgie discovers her old yellow landline and calls Neal from it to check in..but instead of present day Neal she gets Neal from the past, almost 15 years later. 4/5 stars

8. Stolen - Lucy Christopher

Gemma is about to go on a vacation with her family, she stops to get some coffee before her flight departs, she never ends up on that flight because she is kidnapped right there in the airport. Gemma's captor Ty, has been watching her for years, this is why he brings her to the middle of nowhere so they can live in a house secluded from almost anything. I didn't expect the book to go where it went but it was great, so great. Forbidden love, and life lessons. 4/5 stars

9. The Giver - Lois Lowry

I read this in middle school and I know I liked it but I couldn't remember specific details about the story so I decided to re-read it especially since the movie was about to come out (still haven't seen it!) I enjoyed this so much more the second time. Its such a short story but it's one you will be thinking about long after you read it. 5/5 stars
